Entrance Scholarships

| Lloyd Carr-Harris Foundation Scholarship | $45,000 over four years | A scholarship, valued at approximately $45,000 (base tuition every term) over four years, is awarded annually to an outstanding student entering first year of the Accounting and Financial Management program. Continuance of the scholarship beyond Year One is dependent on the student maintaining an 83% overall average and continued enrollment in the program. The scholarship covers the cost of the basic tuition term fee each term to a maximum of eight academic terms. No application is required. |
| Karen Cheng Memorial Entrance Scholarship | $2,000 annually | Awarded to an outstanding student who currently lives in or previously lived in Hong Kong and is entering first-year of the Accounting and Financial Management program. This scholarship is made possible by a donation from Boris Bong in memory of his wife, Karen Cheng. Boris and Karen each earned Bachelors and Masters Degrees through the School of Accounting and Finance. This scholarship is awarded based on academic performance and the required application. |
| Christopher and Clair Govan Scholarship | $2,500 each | One or more scholarships will be awarded to students in the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts. Academic merit will be based on a combination of high school admission marks and extra-curricular achievement as assessed through the Admission Information Form. |
| Merrill Lynch Scholarship of Excellence in Accountancy Studies | $2,500 annually | One scholarship is presented annually to an outstanding student entering Year One of the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts, or the Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy program in the Faculty of Mathematics, or the Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy program in the Faculty of Science. This award was established by Merrill Lynch Canada Inc. |
| Whelan Entrance Scholarship | $2,500 annually | One or more scholarships will be awarded annually to outstanding students in the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts. Academic merit will be based on a combination of high school admission marks and extra-curricular achievement as assessed through the Admission Information Form. Jerry and Pam Whelan have generously created this award to help attract outstanding students to the School of Accounting and Finance. |
| Catherine E.B. Hanna Accounting Entrance Scholarship | $2,000 each | Six scholarships are named in recognition of Mrs. Hanna's support of, and interest in, accounting education. The awards are made annually to students entering Year One of Accounting & Financial Management. In addition to overall academic excellence, students will have attained high levels of success in humanities subjects at the high school level. |
| David and Elizabeth Forster Scholarship | $2,000 each | One or more scholarships will be awarded to outstanding first-year students entering the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts, or the Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy program in the Faculty of Mathematics. |
| J. Sayer Minas Entrance Scholarship | $2,000 in the first year | The award is renewable at $1,000 for three years if the student maintains an A average, to a possible total value of $5,000, is given to the most outstanding student entering Year One in the Faculty of Arts. |
| Rozee Scholarship | $1,500 each | One or more scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students entering Year One of the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts. |
| Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (FCCP) Education Foundation Entrance Scholarship in Accounting | $1,000 annually | One scholarship is awarded to an outstanding undergraduate student entering first year of the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts, or the Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy program in the Faculty of Mathematics or the Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy program in the Faculty of Science. This award is sponsored by the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ontario) Education Foundation. |
| Morley Lemon Family Scholarship | $1,000 annually | This scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student entering Year One of Accounting & Financial Management. Selection of the recipient is based on academic merit combined with contributions and involvement in extracurricular activities. Candidates must complete the Faculty of Arts Admission Information Form. |
| Scotiabank Accounting Entrance Scholarship | $1,000 each, annually | Two scholarships awarded annually to outstanding students entering Year One of Accounting & Financial Management. |
| David T. Carter Scholarship | $1,000 annually | This scholarship was established in 2003 by friends and family of Professor David T. Carter, upon his retirement from the University of Waterloo. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student entering first year of the Accounting & Financial Management program in the Faculty of Arts who comes from Essex County and who best reflects the extraordinary commitment and generosity to the community for which Professor Carter is known and respected. |
| W.J. Schlatter Scholarship | $1,000 each, annually | Two scholarships are awarded to outstanding high school students entering Year One of Accounting & Financial Management. This scholarship is in honour of Dr. William Schlatter who, during his long career, instilled a search for knowledge and a broad interest in life in students and colleagues, many of whom now teach at Waterloo. The recipient will have demonstrated the breadth of interests beyond accounting that Dr. Schlatter values so highly. The scholarship is awarded on the basis of academic performance and information provided by the applicant on the Arts Admission Information Form. |
| Mary Ann Finn Entrance Scholarship | $2,400 annually | One scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student entering first-year of the Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management Program in the School of Accounting and Finance. This fund is made possible by a donation from Mary Ann Finn because of her dedication to the University of Waterloo's School of Accounting and Finance and the Accountancy profession. |
| Russell Family Scholarship | $1,000 annually | One scholarship is awarded to an outstanding student entering the Financial Management program in the School of Accounting and Finance. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated leadership in extracurricular and volunteer activities. This fund is made possible by a donation from the Russell Family. |

| Chachra Family Accounting Entrance Scholarship | $2,000 | One scholarship, valued at up to $2,000, is awarded annually to an outstanding student entering first year of the Accounting and Financial Management program. This fund is made possible by a donation from Fakir and Saroj Chachra, in honour of their niece, Ruby Singh, who received her Bachelor of Arts in Chartered Accountancy and Masters of Accounting from the University of Waterloo in 2002. |
| Edward Maitland Dunn Entrance Memorial Scholarship | $4,800 | One scholarship, valued at up to $4,800, will be awarded annually to an outstanding student entering first year of the Accounting and Financial Management program. To be eligible for this award, students must have a minimum 80% average with preference being given to someone who has demonstrates leadership skills, participates in extracurricular activities, including student council and/or volunteer work as well as demonstrates an interest in teaching. This fund is made possible by the generosity of alumnus Andrew Dunn, CA in recognition of his commitment to excellence at the University of Waterloo. |
| Robert Harding Entrance Scholarship | $5,000 | Two scholarships, valued at up to $5,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding students entering any Accounting program, including Accounting and Financial Management, Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy, Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy, and Computing and Financial Management. This fund is made possible by a donation from Robert Harding (BMath/Chartered Accountancy 1980). |
| Robert Harding – President’s Scholarship | $2,000 | Ten scholarships, valued at $2,000 each, are awarded annually to outstanding students entering any Accounting program, including Accounting and Financial Management, Mathematics/Chartered Accountancy, Biotechnology/Chartered Accountancy, and Computing and Financial Management. This fund is made possible by a donation from Robert Harding (BMath/Chartered Accountancy 1980). |
| Kerry and Janet Schwichtenberg Entrance Scholarship | $1,000 | A scholarship, valued at $1,000, is awarded annually to an outstanding undergraduate student entering first year of the Accounting and Financial Management program. $2,000 annually | One scholarship, valued at $2,000, is presented annually to a full-time undergraduate student entering Year Three in either Bachelor Accounting & Financial Management, Honours Mathematics, or Honours Science Chartered Accountancy Studies. The scholarship selection is based upon grades achieved up to the point of entry to Year Three. No application is necessary. |
| Robin K. Banks/Pacioli Awards |
$1,000 annually | One award is provided annually to an Accounting & Financial Management student entering Year Two. The award is based on academic merit combined with contributions and involvement in extracurricular activities. Applications should be submitted to the Student Awards Office during the 1B term. |
| CMA Management Accounting Student of Merit Award |
$500 | This award is presented each year to a fourth year Accounting & Financial Management or BMath student who has demonstrated academic excellence in AFM 201, AFM 481 and AFM 341/CS 330 and has also demonstrated a career interest in the management accounting profession. |
| Robert E. Gobeil Auditing Scholarship |
$500 | The Robert E. Gobeil Auditing Scholarship has been established by Alcan and many friends of Mr. Gobeil. Mr. Gobeil was a founding member of the University's Accounting Advisory Council. The scholarship is awarded annually to the third-year Accounting & Financial Management student who has achieved excellence in AFM 101 and AFM 201 and who does not hold another major University of Waterloo award. |
| RBC Undergraduate Scholarship Awards |

Zonta International Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship |
$500 | Scholarship award will be for the applicant chosen at the local Club level, from all applications received from both universities in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. This person’s application will be sent to the District level, where one person will be selected and receive an award for $500 US. Twelve international scholars will be chosen from the District recipients (there are 30 Zonta districts) and each international winner will receive scholarships of $5000 US. This scholarship was established to encourage undergraduate women to enter careers and to seek leadership positions in business-related fields. The program ultimately seeks to increase the number of women in decision-making positions in order to make a difference in the lives of women and men worldwide. | Toronto CFA Society Undergraduate Awards |
$2500 | Four scholarship awards are available to students in their third-year of study and have a minimum 3.0 GPA (or equivalent) in their program. Applicants must submit a full official transcript of their first and second year grades as well as an unofficial transcript for the first semester of their third year.
