Bob Harding was born in Peterborough, Ontario and attended the University of Waterloo, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics in 1980. Following graduation, he obtained his CA designation in 1981. Bob is currently Chairman of Brascan Corporation, where he has held various executive positions since 1984. He is Director and Chairman of BPO Properties Limited and Fraser Papers Inc. He is also a Director of Noranda Inc., Falconbridge Limited, Norboard Inc., and Burlington Resources.
Bob is a strong supporter of his alma mater. He is Chair of the Board of Governors and Chair of Campaign Waterloo, Building a Talent Trust. He is also an active volunteer for the United Way of Greater Toronto, serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, and a member of the 2004 Campaign Cabinet. In addition, Bob was appointed Co-Chair of the “Strong Neighbourhoods Task Force” by Toronto Mayor David Miller.
Bob was honoured as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 1996 and was elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) in March 2000. In 2002, he was awarded the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for his community service. Bob
is the
recipient of the SAF's Alumni achievement award for 2009.
