Dan Rogozynski, MAcc, CA
Dan Rogozynski joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1990 after graduating from the Masters of Accounting program at the University of Waterloo. While at PwC, Dan honed his tax skills and moved from the audit group into the tax group.
Attracted by the prospects of travel to destinations such as Europe and Japan, Dan left the firm in 1994 to become Tax and Treasury Manager at Nutreco Canada Inc. in Vancouver. In 1996 he returned to the Kitchener-Waterloo area to become controller of Nutreco Canada Inc.’s local division, Hybrid Turkeys.
The move was from turkeys to beer when in 1999 Dan joined Sleeman Breweries Ltd. Since 2001, he has been Sleeman’s Corporate Secretary and Vice President of Finance and Administration. Dan’s best advice to pass on to young CAs, “The skills you develop as a CA open up many different avenues for you and allow you to seek out the position that you truly enjoy.”
As of January 2007, Dan moved to the role of Vice-President, Finance and Administration of the Swiss Chalet division of Cara Operations Limited. This move transpired after he assisted with the completion of the sale of Sleeman Breweries to a Japanese acquirer, Sapporo Breweries. Over the last fifteen years, Dan has taught undergrad and graduate tax courses at the university as time has permitted.
Dan and his wife Shannon have three young sons, Noah, Kane and Quinn. He also makes time in his busy schedule to go to the gym on a regular basis.
