Doug heads up the Infrastructure Services & Process Development (IS&PD) group within Royal Bank’s IT Infrastructure, Global Technology and Operations Group where he as been since 2005. He is responsible for the on-going development and oversight of the Enterprise’s IT change management practices and management of the integrated testing environments.
Doug joined RBC in 1999 as Vice President of IT Audit. During his 5 years in internal audit, Doug transformed the group to be an integral partner with the non-IT audit groups by working with them to integrate the audit of IT processes with the audit of non-IT (“business or operational”) processes to enable an end-to-end view of the business or business process.
Doug has his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) and a Masters in Accounting from University of Waterloo (1985) and spent his formative years at Ernst & Young, where he joined as a Co-op Student and furthered his interest in Information Systems. Doug is a Chartered Accountant, a Certified Information Systems Auditor, and a Certified Internal Auditor. Doug's interest in the financial services side led him to TD Bank, CIBC and then to the Royal Bank.
Doug is a past president of the UW Accounting Alumni Association (Toronto Chapter), a past president of the Information Systems Audit & Control Association (ISACA), and a past Director of Program for the Toronto Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
On a personal note, Doug is married to Lori (also a UW grad) and has two children: Peter and Laura. Doug has been involved in Scouting as a leader since 1997. His passion is canoe camping where he as been taking week long canoe trips with his scout troop for the past 4 years in Algonquin Provincial Park and Killarney Provincial Park. The Johnson’s live in Oakville, where they have been since 1990. Doug’s loves to travel and occasionally tries to improve his golf game.
