Jesse Waltman

School of Accounting and Finance Fellowship Honourees

Jesse Waltman, MAcc

Since his first day on campus, Jesse has felt a great sense of pride resulting from his association with the University of Waterloo and the School of Accounting and Finance, and has dedicated himself to giving back to the University and working to make the campus an even better place to learn, research, live, and work. While in the realm of academia, his colleagues recognized Jesse for his commitment to the University and its development.

Jesse served on a number of institution-wide bodies including the University Board of Governors, the Senate, the Federation of Students’ Board of Directors, and the Committee on Student Appeals and its tribunals. Within the School of Accounting and Finance, Jesse feels privileged to have been able to serve in such positions as Chairperson of the Accounting Students’ Association, and as a member of the School of Accounting and Finance BAFM Program Elements Committee to begin developing the current BAFM program. In these various rolls, Jesse represented students and the University community on issues including the affordability and funding of post-secondary education, omnibus fees, the creation and implementation of University policies and procedures, and career and professional development activities. Jesse also feels fortunate to have built some relationships at the University that will last a lifetime including those that began during his six terms as a residence Don.

Jesse completed his undergraduate accounting degree with honours and when he entered the Master of Accounting program, was the recipient of the prestigious Harper Scholarship. Jesse graduated with his Master of Accounting in 2005 as a member of the Accounting Alumni Honour Roll. Since his convocation, Jesse has continued his involvement with the School of Accounting and Finance as a member of the Accounting Alumni Association.

Jesse began working with PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2001 as a co-op student. After convocating from UW and successfully writing the UFE in 2005, Jesse returned to PwC spending time in both the assurance and taxation lines of service. While with the firm, Jesse called the Windsor office home, but also worked with the San Francisco, New York, Saskatoon, and Toronto offices.

Jesse recently joined the team at Look Communications, Inc. as Controller.

In his spare time, Jesse enjoys traveling, playing tennis, working out, and spending time with his family and friends.
