School of Accounting and Finance Fellowship Honourees

Hurb Jackson Kumaasi, MAcc

Upon earning his MAcc degree, Hurb began a career in the financial services industry in Toronto. He remains in that industry, where today he is a Senior Vice President in Information Technology & Solutions at The Bank of Nova Scotia. He has held a variety of roles in both the Bank’s finance and its technology functions.

Outside of banking Hurb is drawn to mental health and education causes. He is a former member of the Board of Houselink Community Homes (provider of permanent, affordable supportive housing for psychiatric survivors). From 2002 to 2008 Hurb was a Governor of the Board of Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, where he was also Chair of the Audit Committee. In 2008 he established the Montego Bay Achievers Scholarship, providing entrance scholarships to mature students entering Humber College from Toronto’s at risk neighbourhoods.

Hurb is a serious fan of the Toronto Raptors whose games he frequents with his 15 year old son, who, regrettably, is a fan of a different NBA team.
