Jane Ritchie, MAcc, CA, CMA
Jane completed her Masters degree in 1987 as a tax major in the graduate program. Upon graduation, Jane successfully completed the Uniform Final Examination (UFE) placing 13th in the Province of Ontario. Jane returned to Ernst & Young, Toronto where she had been employed as a student and worked in the tax area for the small business group. She completed the Tax In-Depth program in 1990.
Jane has been keenly interested in the education process. She taught the tax segments of the UFE preparation program and the School of Accounting and Finance for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario (ICAO) from 1989 to 1995. She began working as a practice inspector for the ICAO in 1994 and continues to help educate CA firms today.
In 1991 Jane joined a small firm in Whitby, Ontario and became a partner in 1993. Today she practices along side her friend and classmate from Waterloo, Cristina Shortt. The practice includes a full range of services including audits, reviews, compilations, tax preparation, tax planning and advisory services. The firm has strongly supported the University of Waterloo co-operative program and has hired many students over the years.
Jane has enjoyed life balance by living and working in Whitby and making time for her husband, James, and her two bright and active daughters, Sarah and Ellen.
