Karen Wilkinson

Karen Wilkinson, MAcc, CA FCA

Karen graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1990 with a Master of Accounting degree. Karen started her professional career as a co-op student with Deloitte, Haskins & Sells (a predecessor firm to Deloitte & Touche) in Kitchener. Karen passed her CA exams in 1990 and immediately specialized in income tax. Karen was admitted to the partnership in 2001. Karen moved from the Kitchener office to the Burlington office of Deloitte in the summer of 2004.

Karen's practice is focused primarily on assisting private companies and their owners in maximizing wealth and transitioning the business to the next generation. Karen participated with the University of Waterloo Centre for Tax Education and Research in completing the study "Are Canadian Family Businesses an Endangered Species?". Karen has also been an adjunct lecturer in tax for the University of Waterloo. Karen is currently the National Tax Learning Leader for the Deloitte Canadian Tax Practice.

Karen has been very involved in the community serving on a number of Boards including being the Chair of the Board of the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries, Chair of the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Association, and serving on the University of Waterloo Planned Giving Advisory Committee.

Karen enjoys spending time working in the garden, attending the symphony and theatre productions.
