Roger Witteveen, MAcc, CA
Roger started his accounting career as a co-op student at Thorne Ernst & Whinney’s Richmond Hill office in 1989. He liked Waterloo so much that he moved there full-time in 1991. 1993 was a busy year graduating with his BA Honours Co-op and Master of Accounting and finally getting his CA. A couple of mergers later, Roger became a Senior Tax Manager with KPMG. Over 7 years, Roger held various positions including President on the Board of the Waterloo-Wellington Chartered Accountant Association. In 2000, he could no longer resist the lure of industry and joined Research In Motion Limited (RIM) where he is currently Vice President, Taxation.
As a key member of RIM’s Finance team, Roger has overall responsibility for RIM’s global tax function as well as global payroll and stock option administration. He is also involved in special projects from acquisitions to financings.
Roger is happily married to Nicole and they have two children, Nathan (9) and Jocelyn (6). In his spare time he enjoys coaching soccer and playing golf.
