Tim is the Director of Corporate Taxation for RIM. RIM is a leading
designer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative wireless solutions for
the worldwide mobile communications market. Tim is responsible for
overseeing the company's global tax function. This role includes but is
not limited to tax provision financial reporting, transfer pricing, tax
systems integration, corporate income tax compliance, sales tax
compliance and scientific research and experimental development (SR&ED)
tax credit claims.
Tim is an active member in the Kitchener-Waterloo community. Tim is on
the Board of Trustees for St. Mary's General Hospital ("SMGH") in
Kitchener, and is the acting Treasurer of SMGH's Board of Trustees. Tim
is also Chair of the SMGH Resource Planning & Utilization Committee and
past Chair of the SMGH Audit Committee. Tim was a Board member of the
Waterloo-Wellington Chartered Accountants Association from 1998 to 2004
including the role of President and Past President in 2002/2003 and
2003/2004. Tim was a Head/Assistant Coach of a local Waterloo minor
development hockey team in 2000/2001 and 2001/2002 and has also been an
active member of various groups supporting local fundraising initiatives
including the Kool-FM Poster Boy campaign and United Way campaigns. Tim
has also made numerous presentations to students enrolled at the
University of Waterloo's School of Accounting and Finance, MTax and CBET programs.
In September of 2006, Tim was awarded the ICAO Award of Distinction.
This award was established to acknowledge and profile those younger CAs
from across the province who have brought distinction to themselves in
various aspects of their personal and professional lives. The ICAO Award
of Distinction was awarded to a group of deserving young (under 40) CA's
for the first time in 2006 and thereafter, will be given every three
years.
Tim is happily married to Leanne who is also a University of Waterloo
graduate. Tim and Leanne live in Heidelberg, a small village just north
of Waterloo. Tim and Leanne have two small children; Griffen and
Carter. Outside of sharing special moments watching his children
grow up, Tim finds the time to enjoy playing golf, hockey and visiting
the gym.
