Tracy Mann

School of Accounting and Finance Fellowship Honourees

Tracy Mann C.A., CPA (Illinois), MAcc

Tracy Mann graduated from the University of Waterloo’s Master of Accounting and Honours Bachelor of Arts - Chartered Accountancy Studies programs in 1994 and qualified for her CA designation the same year. Upon graduation Tracy returned to Coopers and Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”)), where she had spent her master’s internship.  In 1996, Tracy accepted a two-year secondment to a PwC office in United Kingdom. When Tracy returned to Canada she divided her time between PwC’s Toronto and Waterloo offices. In addition to her audit work on clients in the technology, financial services and manufacturing industries, Tracy also assumed responsibility for several international and Canadian training initiatives.  In 2000 Tracy was promoted to senior manager in the Audit and Assurance Group and earned her CPA designation.

In 2006, Tracy joined the head office management team at The Economical Insurance Group (“TEIG”). TEIG is one of the top 10 property and casualty insurance companies in Canada. At TEIG Tracy manages the financial reporting team responsible for all of the internal and external financial reporting for the insurance operations. Tracy is currently leading the implementation of the International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) for TEIG.

Tracy continues to be involved in training initiatives. At the UW School of Accounting & Finance she has judged the WatCase competition, and has been a guest lecturer discussing the implications of the transition to IFRS.  At TEIG, Tracy has conducted several training events including educating the Board of Directors and executives on IFRS and organizing two three-day accounting conferences for accounting professionals at TEIG. Tracy is also a member of the course development committee for the Canadian Insurance Accountants Association advanced accounting course.

Tracy and her husband, David Dolson, have two school-aged children. David is a graduate of UW Engineering.  Tracy uses her accounting knowledge in her volunteer work with some local non-profit organizations.  In addition to spending time with her family, Tracy enjoys yoga, aerobics, gardening, reading, gourmet cooking and travel.
