The Centre was founded in 1998 by the School of Accountancy at the
University of Waterloo, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants
and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (the founding
sponsors) with the objective of improving the quality of education
and research in information systems assurance, governance and control
and to foster a close and continuing working relationship between
the School, the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants (CICA),
the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) and
other partners with an interest in information systems assurance,
governance and control. The Centre for Information Assurance (UWCISA)
is an administrative sub-unit within the Centre of Accounting Research
and Education (CARE).
The Centre invites and welcomes new partners to share in its mission.
